Valley of the Moon (2012/2013)

A Commission by The National Centre for Culture and Arts – King Hussein Foundation held under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein

The original story of the Pony and the Rababa, an old Jordanian folk tale, is the base for this theatre production using animation, video, projection, music and physical movement. The 5 actors on stage blend with the 4 projected video surfaces. The performance conveys a remake of the original story, where time and location, although with local and contemporary references, could take place anywhere, at any time. The folk tale inhabits a universal theme of love and friendship, in which the main character has to come to terms with the dilemma of risking to lose the person (the pony) he loves. The backdrop of visual images and animation is the valley of the moon in Wadi Rum Jordan. The performance is aimed for age group 6-12 years.
